Head injury in a 3yo

Dd took quite a dive this morning at playgroup. She's got a huge 'egg' on her forehead and is quite grumpy and fragile. She didn't loose consciousness but I've been warned about drwosiness and vomitting.

For how long do I need to keep an eye on her? What about tonight - should dh or I sleep in her room?

The general advise these days is to watch for unusual drowsiness so not at a time you would expect. You can let them sleep but ensure they are wakeable - so tickle or pinch just to make sure you can get a reaction.

A lump is usually a good sign - any swelling is coming outwards so swelling of the brain is less likely.

Don't worry too much about during the night - maybe check her a couple of times before you go to bed for your own reassurance. If she is still extra drowsy or vomits (more than once) in the next 24 hours then get medical attention.
