Hopi ear candles - experiences...?

My ears itch a bit and am desperate to rummage about with a cotton bud, but won't. (GP said to leave it, I've had them checked and had a issue with them a few months back.) So, I bought some Hopi ear candles as a friend was enthusing madly about them.
However, a bit more Googling has revealed that some people think they are a load of bollocks and others think they are brilliant.
Anyone here had much experience? (Got them on Amazon so they ought to be here tomorrow.)

I got them years ago, what a laugh! Looked ridiculous and nearly set my hair on fire. And didn't work. But years later it is still a talking point so all was not lost.

My ears were really blocked up a few months back so I bought some of these candles. Don't think they helped any though. Maybe I did it wrong. Good luck

They are not brilliant, they are a load of bollox.

Didn't do anything for me but won't cause any harm (unless you set your hair on fire!!) so worth a try.

Total load of bollocks!

It is relaxing to have them done, but has no effect on the wax build up in your ears. A lot of beauticians in my town do them for £25 a go and say that the wax in the candle when it's finished burning has been drawn up by the vacuum of the candle. Whereas its actually the wax from the inside of the candle itself.

I'm sure that I read somewhere that they're illegal in the USA or Canada for claiming to do something medical which is untrue?

They won't do you any harm but certainly have no affect on hearing or ear issues.

I had blocked ears and I think they helped a bit, they weren't a miracle cure though!

To get the best from them you need to get somebody to do the candling for you to make sure they are placed in your ear properly and have a tight seal over your ear hole or else they won't work at all. My DP also massaged the area under my ear to try and get everything moving - I don't know if it helped but it felt very nice :)
