Getting really annoyed

Everything I eat seems to be making me feel absolutely rubbish and I'm running out of things I can eat.

Been lactose intolerant for 8 years
Gluten intolerant for 5
Soya for about 2
Even the tiniest amount of these causes me to be ill, can't even take tablets that contain lactose. Thats how severe it is.

Recently had to cut rice out of my diet as that was causing problems and also potatoes.
My diet basically consists of meat, fruit and veg but even that hasn't stopped all the problems.
I feel really bloated and uncomfortable, get stomach cramps and I am constantly tired, not to mention frequent trips to the loo.

My doctors will do pretty much nothing. They have suggested I follow a normal diet for 6 weeks and keep a food diary then we can start to eliminate particular foods. How exactly will that help!!!! And am I meant to give up work for the next 6 weeks as if I eat any of the above I need the toilet urgently after only an hour. Its just impossible.

I don't eat any processed foods and everything is prepared and cooked by me so I don't understand what I can do next.

Who diagnosed you as being intolerant to all these things?

Littlefish · 17/08/2013 21:36

Have you been tested for crohns disease?

Pursetly · 17/08/2013 22:43

Both of the doctors I have seen refuse to test me for anything without me first following a normal diet and keeping a food diary.

Diagnosed lactose intolerant by the doctor, a few years later was told to cut out gluten.
Soya and rice I've cut out myself as my doctors have proven themselves to be incredibly useless and unfortunately there is nowhere else I can move to.

I'm starting to go a day or two without eating as thats the only time I don't have any problems. I'm feeling so uncomfortable tonight that I already know that I won't be eating tomorrow. Not a very healthy thing to do I know but I can't do anything else.

I have a huge number of food intolerances too and am also always bloated and tired. I sympathise.

I'd recommend doing a York test or Cambridge test to identify your sensitivities. Also take probiotics and cut right down on sugar and food known to predispose everyone to bloating eg pulses, raw brassica etc

There are various supplements that might help - digestive enzymes etc.

Try not to sit around for too long. A brisk walk is often helpful if you can manage it.
