Bilateral talipes

My DS3 who is 3.2 now was born with bilateral talipes which has been treated using the Ponseti method since birth. So far we have coped well with his condition but I am starting to struggle and would really appreciate some advice/hand holding from anyone whose child is at a similar stage in the treatment to mine. The last two nights he has become hysterical when I have put on his boots begging me to take them off and saying he doesn't want to wear them anymore and wants to be like his big brother. It breaks my heart to have to force him to wear them and I suddenly feel very down about how we will get through the next couple of years until his boots come off. His physio has been expecting him to reach this stage for a while but his reaction is more sudden and extreme than I expected. Any ideas from anyone who has 'been there' would be great.
