Canceled consultant advice

Hi,
I'm new so please be gentle. I didnt know where this was best placed so thought here might be okay.

My mum was booked in for a colonoscopy Monday 3pm. Her preparation began on Saturday with her diet and on Sunday she was very limited to what she could have, from 3pm she began taking the laxative like sachets made up in water. Monday no liquids.

Her procedure was 3.30pm Monday and she was contacted at 3pm saying the consultant wasn't avalible and so this couldn't go ahead. Now I know everyone is only human but I'm mortified that she was left all day without being told it wasn't going ahead.

She was told nowhere else could do it for at least a month.

She had taken 3 days off work for it, and is self employed so can't claim sick or just go back to work when it was canceled. My dad also took time off to look after her.

Is there any way she can claim loss of earnings or is there anything she can do? (It's NHS)

Thanks in advance!

Hi. I don't know if there's anything she can do about her earnings but I just wanted to offer my sympathy as that must have been really upsetting for her to go through the prep and then have it cancelled so late. Especially taking the bowel prep.
Hope things go ok for the next time and the results are good.x
