Ways to soothe chronic earache

My dh has a really bad sore that and head cold. His worst symptom however is excruciating earache. He has eczema in his inner ear which makes it even more painful? He dosed up on painkillers but was just wondering if there's any thing else we could try?

You can get warm oil drops from the chemist (or may be able to heat virgin olive oil - look into it - I remember Mum doing this 30 years ago).

Hot water bottle wrapped in a (small) soft blanket to be used as a pillow.

ear aches suck!

anti histamine and getting an emergency docs appointment in the morning, explain that it's got worse, it's stupid that at most docs you can't see them when you need them
