Good luck. Stick with it :-)

Good luck , I stopped last Oct and I don't miss it .

The freedom is fab . I did watch the Allen Carr dvd which helped but the biggest thing was just telling myself I didn't smoke anymore .

It was nowhere near as hard as it had been in the past . Something just clicked .

Good luck. I stopped 9 weeks ago, am using an e-cig and so far it has been surprisingly easy! I've never managed to stop before, and am so pleased to now be a non smoker.

Shellywelly1973 · 12/08/2013 19:47

I gave up over 6 months ago after smoking for 22 years.

I used patches & i still can't believe I've managed it!

My Mil is dying from lung cancer & now has been diagnosed as having 3 brain tumours. Come & sit with me in the hospital whilst Mil smokes her fag but can't work out where she is, what year it is or what day it is...no better incentive to stay away from fags!!!

You can do it, deal with one day at a time. Good luck.

I stopped by using an e ciggy as well. The one that you fill with a liquid rather then the one that looks like a real ciggy. Been 8 weeks and haven't looked back.
Have stopped before by using an inhalator and patches, which was a struggle, this is easy. Smile
Lovely flavours as well, have raspberry at the moment Smile

Space koala, I'm on lemon meringue topped up with cinnamon, fab!

justcrazy · 12/08/2013 19:59

Thanks everyone, feeling very positive at the moment.
ShellyWelly1973 sorry to hear about your MIL, love and thoughts with you and your family at this difficult time

How are you getting on ? I hope its not too painful .

mummyplonk · 16/08/2013 22:50

How are you getting on just crazy? I am on day 35 on an Elite ciggie too, they are very good, but I really wish this feeling of wanting one to relax would go away in the evenings, those people on 9 weeks etc do you still have urges or does the thought repel you now. I really want to get to that point.

sashh · 17/08/2013 09:02

Good luck.

Tip - my dad didn't give up smoking, he just decided he wanted to see how long he could go without a cigarette - he's at 30+ years.

Something about doing something rather than not doing something clicked in his head.

Anyone who is at the 4 week stage, this is the worst bit, you will be coughing up phlegm of various colours and textures, but stick with it. This is the hair cells in your lungs 'waking up' after being paralysed for as long as you have been smoking and doing a really good spring clean, it might last 2 weeks but after that you will feel so much better.

LittleNoona · 17/08/2013 09:17

I gave up 12 weeks ago, cold turkey.

It was a split second decision. Best one I've ever made! If I can do it, you can too - best of luck Smile

SpaceKoala · 19/08/2013 22:17

I have lost count, but have not smoked for about 9 weeks now.
Been quite easy
Recommended my e-ciggy to two friends who got one and have stopped as well.
I now dislike the smell, and whilst cleaning out a drawer the other week I found a small pack of leftover tobacco ( would have been like gold dust some months agoSmile )
Made a roll up just to see what it was like, and was actually horrible. Had 2 puffs, and threw rest away. Washed hands cleaned teeth and all to get rid of smell..
Guess the fact that I tell myself I can still smoke, just something else then a ciggy makes a difference.
Good luck to all!
And Gin, I am now on apple and cinnamon Smile

SpaceKoala · 19/08/2013 22:18

And little noona, well done for stopping cold turkey!!

LittleNoona · 19/08/2013 22:31

Thanks spacekoala!
