I've just bought a load of magnesium tablets as I read they are good for reducing stress and tummy fat! Does anyone know if its ok to take them while breastfeeding?

Don't know but I'd ask I the breast and bottle section or ring the BFN Drugline.

There's some good information on Kellymom about Breastfeeding and dieting [smle]

What worked for me though for both the stress and the weight was cutting out as much sugar as I could and taking Lo out in the buggy or sling instead of the car if I could. Going to bed earlier helped too.

I've heard Slimming World is pretty bf friendly too. There's a free 7 day mealplan here.

I don't know the guidelines about doses etc when breastfeeding, but I read a while back that certain minerals are linked with excess lipase in breastmilk.

I took calcium supplements when ds2 was newborn because I was feeding him, and his older brother and healing three broken bones in my ankle.

My milk had the excess lipase thing where it wouldn't store. It had been fine for ds1.

Just so you are aware that this is a possibility if you do express/store milk

That's interesting mawbroon.

Lipase is an enzyme in the milk, I don't know exactly what it does, but if there is too much of it, the milk goes soapy and minging when you store it.

But if you're not expressing and storing, then it's not a problem! Just thought I would mention in. I can imagine nothing worse than building up a lovey supply of milk in the freezer only to find it all rendered useless on defrosting....
