Advice on my Stupid Finger injury please

Yesterday managed to trap my left index finger in a door (hinge side). I slammed the door and my finger crunched, excruciating pain face and I promptly ran it under cold water for 10 minutes. Im not a wuss with pain, and I was sobbing like my kids do !

It's still killing me. The bone doesn't seem broken ,it is slightyly bent over at the tip to one side, but very very slightly.
I can bend it, but the things that's bothering me is I can't feel anything when I touch something!
Does anybody know if this is serious, I'd hate to go to Drs/A&E for nothing, and waste their time.
Feeling a total wuss now Blush
Thanks

gosh I would have gone to the docs definitely but then I am obviously more of a wuss than you are Grin

i have no idea whther it's bad or not but go to the docs anyway, it'll only take a minute of their time if everything is alright and then you'll feel better too Smile

Does sound like you've done some damage - I'd go to A&E if I were you.

Whizzz · 13/06/2006 17:39

If you can't feel anything, it may be a damaged nerve ? In which case I'd go for a check up.

Thats what docs are there for
Hope your OK

nicnack2 · 13/06/2006 17:40

you may have damaged nerves (hence altered sensation) and tendons. should get it check out

Thanks everyone, I will go in the morning to the GP.
Last year I stubbed my toe, and was convinced it was broken, to be sent home by A & E, saying I'd wasted an Xray Shock
Didn't want to be the dreaded hypochondriac all Drs dread !

ouch. good luck at the dr's . I shut my thumb in the secondary double glazing yesterday morning and the nailbed bruised up straight way , could see the blood pooling. Even now I can't feel the tip properly but think it is just very bruised. Hope the nail sdoens't come off -bleugh !
