has anyone ever had viral labyrinthitis? How long did it take for you to get back to 'normal'?

I had it and insisted on drugs. I took sturgeon for three weeks before it was at a point at which I could function.

I did....I hate to say mine lasted a year at least. Awful time. However that is unusual so I hope yours is nothing like mine. Get better soon, it's absolutely awful.

fanoftheinvisibleman · 08/08/2013 23:46

The worst of the symptoms lessened after about improved a lot after 6 months but it was at least 18 months before I felt 'normal' again.

I had this following my dds bout of chicken pox. I still have it 12 years later although it has diminished over time. I still can't stop myself from feeling motion sickness when in a room with flourescent tubes and shiny floors.

About a month, an awful experience.

I had it this year when 20 weeks pregnant. Lasted about 2 weeks but was truly hideous. Drugs helped!!
Thanks

I had it three years ago and it took several weeks for me to be able to function somewhat normally. The really nasty thig is that I still randomly get weird flashbacks from it and go all wonky for no reason. And if I do something that would make a normal person motion sick it really fucks me up. Yesterday I went in an enclosed flume water slide with dd and her friend. Stupid fast, lots of turns and sliding up the walls etc and completely in darkness the whole way down. What the fuck was I thinking? I staggered out of the pool and the end and almost vomited. I walked crooked and felt like I was in the wave pool for hours afterward even though I was parked in a lounge chair.

Bastard labrynthitis. Years it's been, and these things still happen to me!

I had it for 2 weeks. I took Stemetil. One of my clients has just had 7 weeks of it. She saw a physio & had some sort of massage/manipulation & said it was a miracle. She is back at work now.

2 years. It led onto vertigo and I had to be hospitalised 3 times due to dehydration and in the end it took vestibular rehabilitation to get me back to something approaching normal.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 10/08/2013 20:59

It's taken me about a year to get over it. Around 6 months to get past the worst but still not 100%. It's evil. Hope you recover quickly.
