Elderly relative ill- how bad is this?

They have cellulitis and septicaemia in both legs. They are blistered and rash is from toes to waist. GP has been out but relative refusing to go to hospital so GP has prescribed oral antibiotics (2 week course). The rash has reduced in redness a bit and district nurse is visiting to treat the blisters.

Everyone has tried to talk to relative about going into hospital but they think they won't come out again.

:(

What should we expect?

How mobile is the relative, do they get out of the house at all?

Not too mobile due to back pain but this started on a recent holiday where they probably over did things. They still drive very short distances although probably shouldn't and can potter (standing) around the garden/greenhouses. Since the illness they have just been in bed or in an orthopaedic chair in the bedroom.

I wonder if big risk is blood poisoning, and anything that improves circulation would help reduce the risk. Would they get out a bit to see family, even potter around the garden with others?

Thanks. I think they are finding it difficult due to all the blisters (infection?) to get moving. Clothing for example is a problem. Won't visit other houses due to lack of decent back supportive chair.
