DP in hospital

hi guys, DP got admitted into hospital yesterdy morning it is about 1hr away and feel useless.
he had his wisdom teeth out 3wks ago under g/a, but he was still in pain so he wenbt to the dentist 3 times who charged his £200 for a special mouth piece because they said his teeth had moved. the pain was unbearable on friday night so he went to our local A&E who just gave him co-codamol. on saturday morning he couldnt open his eye or mouth so he went to a defferent dentist who rushed him to a different hospital who says hes got a massive abscess!!

has anybody had this? hes in surgery to drain it now but have no idea how they are going to do it, from the inside of his mouth or on his face!!

sorry to go on but i just needed to get it out, has anyone had any similar experiances??
i'm just shocked his dentist missed it 3 times.

Sorry jodie, no advice, but how awful for him and you!

Hope he gets sorted out soon.

How awful for you all. At least now hopefully he will be sorted out and the pain with go once the abscess is treated.

How on earth could his flipping dentist miss a great big abscess? So sorry your dp has been treated so appallingly.

i dont know how the dentist missed it when they have taken 6 x-rays in the 3wks.
ds just keeps on walking upto the office door and shouting daddy, bless him hes only 11mths. i have no idea how long he will be in for and with it being quite a drive away i dont think i can get there either with work and that.

Oh poor dp, he must be in such pain. And poor you stuck an hour away :(

poor dh. Can you phone him in hospital? Would it entertain him to know a lot of very strange women/hairy handed truckers on the internet are feeling sorry for him?

he rang me this morning to tell me they were going to operate but he couldnt talk a lot as he was in pain, i dont think he will ba able to talk later.
i have just rang the ward and he has just got back but not sure how he is, i have got to ring back in an hour.

Oh God how horrible, what a stupid dentist.

I know you have other things to worry you right now but I would seriously suggest asking for some money back because of the Dentists failure to spot this also he has treated your dh when it wasn't needed.

Hope he gets better soon.

just rang him, everything went ok, it was an infected blood clot, so they took it out and another molar which they think was causing the problems and put a drain in on the inside to drain away any puss and fluid that buils up.
he recons they will let him out on tuesday.

Ouch! If it's any consolation I had a spate of abcesses, due to a dentist failing to notice impacted wisdom teeth. Had some drained and others, just had to burst (sorry if too graphic)...The good news is, once it's drained / popped, the pressure goes in an instant and it feels great, even if the after 'op' stuff needs to heal.

hi, sorry i was at work all day yesterday.

dp came home lastnight, he has not been in any pain since, although he is on 7 different kind of meds. he has to go back to the hospital on monday for a check up.

they also told him to make a formal complaint to the dentist because it should not have been missed 3 times.
