Verruca victory (I think....)

DS had a small verruca on his toe. Have been treating with duct tape and apple cider vinegar, and I think (I think!) we are very nearly at the end of it. Taken about 4 weeks.

I tried just with a small square of duct tape over the verruca (held on with micropore tape) but he was so active that it just didn't stay on long enough. So I started with regular vinegar and upgraded to apple cider vinegar when I could get to the shops. It's the same principle as the chemical treatments which use salicylic acid - the acid kills the top layer of the verruca and you file it away.

So after bath each night I would file away what was dead, wipe the toe with surgical spirit (dries out the verruca and cleans away any bits of verruca virus spread by the filing) woukd either put a tiny bit of cotton wool soaked in vinegar over the verruca only, or just dab some directly on the verruca with a cotton bud, cover it with little square of duct tape (held on with micropore) and repeat the next day. A couple of days ago a section of verruca with the black dots (which apparently are blood vessels feeding the verruca and not roots as I had always thought) came away, and it looks like there is normal skin underneath.

Duct tape alone worked for me = straight over offending area and left on until fell off - or changed weekly. When you pull it off a lovely "plug" of verruca comes out with it!

Milliways- that sounds immensely satisfying, but DS's only stayed on for hours - never mind changing once a week! Am jealous- would have loved a verruca "plug"
