Kidney infection?

Woke up yesterday feeling unwell. Went to bed early last night and up this morning with stuffy nose, cough and sore throat.

Over the day though, I have been getting pain in my back, off to both sides above my hips. The right is much worse than the left, although I can still feel pain in the left. It's almost like a knotted muscles, but I know it's not. My whole body feels like its aching.

Would it suggest kidney infection? Not sure if I should try see gp tomorrow

I have had various infections with kidneys but they do not match up to your symptoms, do go and see your GP though you do sound unwell.
It might be a viral infection if you have a cold and it's making you feel achy.hope you are feeling much better soon. :)

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 30/07/2013 20:29

Thank you.

I've only ever had one kidney infection and it was when I was pg. I don't even remember my symptoms Blush

Ill make an apt for tomorrow

ah, yes I hope you get a decent answer. Rest when you can if you feel achy and in pain.
let us know how you get on.

Sounds just like my kidney infections when I manage to get to the "antibiotic urgently" stage!

Doctor... Hope you feel better soon.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 30/07/2013 22:06

Yes sounds like when I had my kidney infection too. I didn't link the back pain - thought I had pulled a muscle. I ended up hospitalised, so GP tomorrow! Don't forget to take paracetamol if you have a temperature. I always think of it for DC but not for myself.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 30/07/2013 22:29

Oh wow!

I did think that maybe I had slept odd but the fact it's got worse rather than better makes me wonder.

No temp, just sore head and feeling rotten Sad

Ive had a fair few kidney infections but never had stuffy nose, cough with them. They usually come on very suddenly, I don't usually feel ill first and it feels like someone is grabbing one kidney with their fist and squeezing it and then letting go. That will go on for a while then I'll start with the running to the loo for a wee every few mins. Then if it's not treated by that point, feeling then being sick, high temp, aching everywhere and just generally feeling really ill. Once I had one I knew what it was and made sure I got antibiotics v v quickly after that.

If it is kidney or you think it might be then I agree with Yoni - don't leave it or chance it because they can get very nasty very quickly.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 31/07/2013 23:28

I couldn't get an apt to see GP today (all were taken bar 2 that were with a doctor I really don't like!) so ill call first thing tomorrow.

The pains have calmed down a little bit still very noticeable.

Mummyduck I just did a search for kidney pain and found your thread! I hope you feel better soon, and am watching with interest as I have terrible pain too and am worried about it being my kidneys (altho perhaps am just googling too much...) Hope you get to see a GP soon anyway

YoniBottsBumgina · 01/08/2013 13:18

Cough and stuffy nose could be unrelated though. I'd get it checked out ASAP.

Penelope, you too! It's a simple urine test they do to check. They won't mind, honestly.
