History of Achilles rupture. After an energetic weekend my right leg became v sore and walking became difficult and then impossible. Saw doctor, who sent me to A&E, who put me in temp cast and gave me an apt two days later. The sensation in leg was similar to Achilles rupture but Achilles appeared intact. Duly showed up at fracture clinic, trainee doc had cast taken off, said all fine, go home. I couldn't actually walk at this point, insisted on MRI scan - waited all day for it. Doc who scanned said it looked like Achilles torn but see consultant in fracture clinic for proper result. At this point, after limping around shoeless all day, they put me in wheelchair. However this meant having to wait for porter to push me,by time got back to clinic consultants all gone home. Was given air cast boot and follow up appt.
Boot has been great. Def can move leg beyond what would be poss w total rupture now, although it aches if I overdo things. Couple of days ago there was a kind of popping noise inside my leg and I could put my foot straight instead of slightly out to side. Now I am wondering if it could be a fractured bone instead? nnly no swelling? follow up appt this week but I know it is going to be rushed so I'd appreciate any advice on what it could be and what questions I need to ask.
