I swear I could call it a crime of passion! I love my dh we have a great relationship but I swear he purposely pisses me off a week before I'm due!

I get such bad pms I can't stand anyone it feels like i'm grumpy with an extra helping of bitch for a whole week. I've taken herbal remedies, breathed with a sock on my ear to help with my Chi, taken warm bubble baths, cut out caffeine and many other things that are said to help.

I'm open to anything that might help, even my GP is crap. Does anyone else suffer or has suffered but found something that helps?

There are a couple of great threads on here if you go back a few weeks that are both helpful and very funny too. It would seem there are a fair few of us in the same boat.

For me, it is getting worse, I turned 40 this year and I am suffering worse than ever. I too can't bear my DH for the week before my period - he is on lates this week so sleeping in the morning and going off to work in the afternoon which is bliss as I am so pre-menstrual. Just me and my DDs which I can manage.

I do everything that I can, rarely drink alcohol anyway these days, try and eat every few hours, take magnesium OK and agnus castus and try and sleep early.

I am on hols at the mo and not at work and I thought it would be much improved as none of the usual stresses of teaching but nope, it seems to be just as bad, feel like I could sleep all day and can't be bothered to do anything, look like shite too Confused

I have found some relief by using natural progesterone cream. I was getting nowhere at the doctors and thus increasingly desperate, so decided it had to be worth a go. No longer do I have that general feeling of awful rage and fuck off everyone or else I'll punch you that I had started to get every month and I am so thankful for that :) I realise that it won't be for everyone though.

Me too. I am 41 and 35% horrible to be around. I have a mirena coil fitted and I think it exacerbates the symptoms. I also find that when I (for weight losing reasons) give up alcohol and eat really healthily, I am not nearly as unpleasant; sugar definitely makes things worse. But guess what, when I am feeling low or pissed off what do I most want? Sugar and alcohol. So I can't seem to win, on the weight loss front OR on the staying on the right side of spouse abuse/not needing locking up front either...

I found a magnesium supplement made a huge difference to me. Also eating a higher protein/low carb diet. Not advisable to start this during the PMS though!

Yes, it's awful.

I was eventually prescribed anti depressants. This is my 4th month on them and my pmt has completely disappeared :).

goodjambadjar · 26/07/2013 10:58

I found mine was associated with my pill. I told the nurse and she changed it to one which releases different levels of hormone throughout the month instead of a fixed dose. It worked! However, I've come off of it and my PMT is back, so will be lurking for ideas!

I started taking evening primrose oil, but the same day I read that it doesn't work. I carried on taking it though cause I had bought it and found the next month that the murderous rage was gone. I still wish dh dead that week but in a more quiet, benign fashion!

Vit b6 and magnesium.
