How long for coil bloating to stop?

Copper coil fitted 3 weeks ago. Still bleeding and have for the last week had horrible bloating and cramps - someone asked me if I was pregnant yesterday!

Please tell me these symptoms will go away. Went to doctors yesterday and she checked the coil, said it looks fine/no sign of infection and to give it to the 6 week check.

I'm probably being too impatient - but would like some idea if poss of when this might settle down. The bloating is painful and it's making me really ratty :(

I didn't have any bloating, I cramped for a couple of weeks but the bleeding was still going after the 6 weeks. It stopped after about two months. I have had the coil for nearly 3 years and no problems since.

two months of bleeding! :( You poor thing..

At least if it settles after that it's some consolation!
