do you have Addisons Disease or something else? If it is Addisons then there is the Addisons Disease Self Help Group (ADSHG) which may be useful. It can be treated with medication.

There are several different adrenal disease Addisons and Cushings are just two. Have you got anymore information?

evaeoin · 16/07/2013 22:33

When i say i was told it was by an alternative practitioner -so no exact details. she said my adrenal gland was working only at 60%. I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome for the past 14 months by my gp which is not really helpful in terms of a solution.
so i jumped at hearing about the adrenal gland (which apparently she can fix for me!).- when i came home and googled i have most of the symtoms like the fatigue, the mind fog, the heart palpatation, the feeling the cold, etc.
But as i say not exactly a medical diagnosis.
Do ye know any more - do ye have this condition??

Adrenal disease requires dynamic blood testing to diagnose so not certain how the alternative practioner came up with it.
Treatment of the conditions require a variety of drugs and in some cases removal.
Without being to dismissive the practioner sounds a little woo. What type of practioner was it.

What lone cat said but far more skilfully than I would :)

Sorry you have been unwell for so long :( Have you been tested for all the usual things, especially thyroid deficiency? Do you have confidence in your GP?

taleteller · 17/07/2013 09:27

Symptoms do sound more like chronic fatigue than Addisons although the fatigue is definitely a common symptom. But you can always ask your GP whether he/she has ruled out adrenal problems -they do require quite specific tests to diagnose. Am concerned that this alternative practitioner is a bit dodgy sorry. If you do have adrenal problems you need proper medical treatment as they can be very serious if untreated.

FranKatzenjammer · 17/07/2013 09:37

Stick with the alternative practitioner, OP. Most GPs aren't much help with adrenal fatigue. Also, read 'Adrenal Fatigue: the 21st Century Stress Syndrome' by J Wilson. Hope you feel better soon.

thanks for replies#=
I have had loads and loads of tests inc thyroid, vit b dificiency etc etc
Dont think i ever had adrenal gland tested. Am going to see gp tomorrow. I have faith in him (i think) but he doesnt seem to have any faith in me if that makes sense. He said before that i am depressed but i dont think i am. I had huge stress in my abusive marraige for a long time and am out if it now so i think all this illness is a result of that. but have gotten rid of H and i still feel like crap when i should be on top of the world.
Wish me luck am tired(!) of him fobbing me off with diagnosis but no answers.

Adrenal gland fatigue seems to be the new buzzword for alternative health practitioners. Hmm Without blood tests, there is no way of knowing. Even with blood tests, it is not always very simple.
