How long after should you have a check up?

I had a wound check after a week & my stitches out. Then a full post-op check at 6 weeks. Nothing other than that.

Thanks demo, i hope you're well after the op.

I should have said the OP was done vaginally about 6 weeks ago and my Mum has been given an appt for January, she's fine, but that seems like a long time for the Docs to check she's ok. I guess if she wasn't she would have been at the GP.

I didn't have one. Dr said if I wanted I could have one but it wasn't done as a general rule.

Thanks cocolepew, that's good to know.

I had one after six weeks - was about 15 years ago though, so it may have changed now.
I had a hernia op fairly recently and there was no post op check after that, - I had a problem so I went to my GP. If your mum would like a check up she should go to her GP and they can maybe get her an earlier appointment.
I think they sort of assume these days that if you've got a problem you'll get in touch with them, which is actually a bit crap IMO.
