Feeling really afraid - appointment later

I have an appointment later with a gynaecologist due to a number of problems. I have a lump on my outer labia which I am terrified is vulva cancer. I also have some soreness but I am not sure if that is just from my scar after a 2nd degree tear. I can't calm down and am worried he will take one look at me and announce it looks really abnormal. One of my labia sticks out more than the other and is slightly brown colour. Does this sound normal? I think my period is about to start too so really worried that I will start bleeding while I am being examined.

I had a tear after my daughter and I think it was about nine months before I felt it was healed. I think all of us are slightly different, and especially if you've had a child in the last year, things may have changed down below.

Even if your period starts this afternoon, do keep your appointment. Gynaecologists will be used to it happening unexpectedly and I know when my Auntie had constant bleeding they examined her. Also, I was bleeding towards the end of labour and they just kept gently cleaning me if they needed to examine me. I know it's not nice, but it goes with the job.

Sorry, forgot to say hope it goes okay.

Could it be a Bartholin's Cyst?

Don't worry about the possibility of bleeding - it's a normal bodily function and they will have seen it before.

Cancer of the vulva is rare. I went to GP about a sore lump on my outer labia near vagina. She instantly said that mine was on the hairy edges and cancer is only on the smooth hairless inner bits. Mine was a cyst which healed itself.
Good luck with appt.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. I went and thankfully the consultant took one look and said that he was sure that it was nothing to worry about. Said possibly a non sexual wart or a blocked hair follicle. Everything else looked very healthy. Asked about lopsided bit and said just scar tissue--phew!!

Glad everything is fine, including your 'lopsided bit' Smile
