prednisolone side effects

started taking 30mg a day aswell as amoxacillin for asthma. 5 hours after taking the steroids my heart races, I can see my beats through my t shirt, headache and all my joints ache like I'm getting flu and I feel tired. Are these 'normal' side effect or should I be worried/tell my gp? thanks

Yes, normal unfortunately. I've just done a week of 60mg, tapering to 50mg currently. Palpitations, light headedness, joint pain, mind racing, insomnia (check out the time I'm posting this) are just a few of the normal side effects.

As your body gets used to the dose it will get a bit easier and as your dose reduces it will get easier. I find below 20mg the noticeable side effects disappear, although each time I reduce my dose I get achy for a couple of days.

I'm taking mine for a flare of ulcerative colitis so don't know how it works for asthma, but good luck with your treatment and hope you feel better soon.

I have often had short high dose prednisolone for asthma. It makes me feel very wired (I have tachycardia as well so hadn't noticed that as a specific symptom) hungry and unable to sleep followed by getting down in the dumps a few days later. However it does quickly help with the asthma.
Hope you are soon on the mend.
