Any dentists/dental surgeons around?

DD had two teeth taken out about 5 weeks ago (under GA at hospital - submerging baby molars with no adult teeth underneath). There was a lot of digging around for one of them, and now that the swelling has gone down, she's got a hard lump at the bottom of her mouth underneath her tongue at that side. It's sore to touch and is affecting her eating as any food at that side hurts it too. No obvious infection, or discharge though.

Dentist thinks it might be a bit of bone which got dislodged, but the doctor at the hospital who I spoke to was very dismissive that it could possibly be that.

We are going to the hospital this week, but I wondered how likely it could be that some bone did get moved/chipped during the surgery, and if so, what would they do to sort it out? Would it mean more surgery? Dentist said it was very unusual, and hospital doctor was quite offhand with me.

Any ideas?
