Vertigo dizziness

Hi I wondered if anyone else suffers with vertigo.
I woke up yesterday morning feeling sick, dizzy sweating and thought I was going to faint. I went back to bed and slept most of the day.
I made docs appt today and told I have vertigo. I have been prescribed betahistine also suffer anxiety which I feel that I have got under control. I take 10mg citalopram.

Weirdly I have had this before at exactly same time of year. I was given stemetil before which I took for a few weeks. U can't take stemetil with citalopram so hence the change.

Is it common for vertigo to keep resurfacing. It's so awful.

DM had vertigo, but was not in bed all day sweating. She was treated with antihisamines and worked for her. But she was elderly and took them every day.

Your symptoms are just like my sis had but only once and as she has been prone to migraines with similar symptoms but this time without the head ache, she assumed it was that. She was in bed for 2 days. But hasn't recurred.
Sorry I can't be of anymore help. < other than at this time of year I go down with a virus - swollen glands this week>.

Hhmmmmm........ I have vertigo and I take stemetil with citalopram. I was told by gp and pharmacist it ok if you don't take them at the same time.

Anyway, it's awful isn't it? You have my sympathy. I remember going to the dr's and having to hold on to the desk to stop myself falling.

Rest, drink lots and wait for it to pass , that's all you can do really.

And prop yourself up a little in bed.

My DH has had mild vertigo since first attack in 2006. First controlled by meds but now he keeps it at bay with the Epley Manouvre. Lots of instructions on YouTube.

I had it for the first time last year, came on out of the blue (thought I had had a stroke) - suddenly couldn't walk as the room was spinning and lurching in the most frightening way. Someone called an ambulance! but they quickly ruled out everything really nasty and came up with labyrinthitis on the spot - described to me as an imbalance of the inner ear crystals (never heard of it before.)

No treatment seemed to help except maybe Stugeron alleviated the nausea a little, I just had to lie in bed and crawl to the loo on hands and knees. It got gradually better over 10 days.

It returned twice in the year but each time a little less severe and I haven't had it now since September. A US medic friend recommended Meclizine which I got hold of but have never had to try out.

Good luck Funny - it's really, really nasty and thoroughly disabling. Hope it sorts itself out soon and doesn't come back.

Thank you for your response I do feel a little better tonight after being on the medication at double strength since yesterday .

Littlenoona - when my gp typed stemetil into her computer with citalopram it came up as a warning. Although she did say it is a new warning as she has previously prescribed both.
Maybe you should check it out as something must have come up as a side effect of mixing the 2.
