This is for my general interest. For two years I was pregnant or breastfeeding. During that time my IBS disappeared and I didn't get any spots at all, none, zilch. It was bliss!

Since going back to "normal" I have started to get my usual monthly enormous zit on the tip of my nose and my monthly ovulation zit on the rift side of my chin. Also my IBS is back with a vengeance !

Why is this?? Sorry if it's a bit biology 101 but I'm intrigued. Also, can I do anything to mimic the pregnant and breastfeeding state? Apart from the obvious...

I'm afraid I don't have much info, except that I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant and my IBS has completely disappeared! I'm so happy, but at the same time really concerned that once DS is here it's going to come rushing back :( Apparently it's to do with the hormone relaxin, which literally loosens your body and calms your gut during pregnancy and breast feeding. I don't know if any other circumstances cause its release, here's hoping someone pops it in a pill!

It's strange isn't it! They should definitely bottle it, I'd buy it at a premium. Mine did come back after I stopped breastfeeding dd1 but wasn't there when I was breastfeeding, even just one small feed a day. I was enjoying lots of lovely pizza and ice cream! You should definitely breastfeed if you can, everyone's a winner!

Hormones - dare I give male point of view?

Dare you? That's a question for you...

My IBS went when pregnant with DC 1. It stayed away for 5 years but came back after having DC2. I have no idea why!
