Anyone know anything about noses?

I think I might need to go on embarrassing bodies! Grin

When I eat pieces of food get stuck up my nose.

I eat normally through my mouth and chew as normal and maybe two or three times a week a piece of food somehow manages to shoot up the back of my nose from inside my throat, iykwim. Sometimes it's a pea or a piece of sweetcorn or a piece of mince.

It really hurts, my eyes water, I cough and splutter and have to spend about ten minutes trying different combinations of snorts and coughs to try and remove it.

What is wrong with me?

I mentioned it to the GP about 8-10 years ago and he laughed, looked in my throat with a torch and said it all looked normal.

Should I go back?

It's really embarrassing if it happens when we're eating out and it really does cause me some discomfort. Does this happen to anyone else?

This happened to me once with spaghetti. Luckily no one witnessed it except DSis, she was like your GP and laughed callously.

i don't mind if it's spaghetti, that's smooth but when it's small things it really hurts Sad Blush

rice is the worst culprit.

Since it's a recurring problem I think it would be worth going back to your GP and asking for an ENT referral. They will be able to have a good look at the back of your throat (where it joins with the back of the nose) to see what is going on.
