Levonorgestrel

Just put in a repeat prescription for Femulen and the doc has rung to say it has been discontinued and has prescribed Levonorgestrel. Is this a good pill? Will it be different from Femulen? Little concerned as have been on Femulen for 6yrs with normal period every 28 days but no other side effects. Understand this is from a different family of hormones and think its the one in the Mirena coil and Cerrazette which for some reason scares me a bit ! Any one else made this change ?

I've recently been changed from Femulen too!

I've been given Cerrazette. I was nervous, as I've heard and read bad reports, but I'm at the end of my first month and it's been okay.

I had a bit of breast tenderness and felt a bit down and was craving sugary, starchy food for a few weeks, but that seems to have settled down (fingers crossed!)

I'm didn't like the idea of no periods either, which seems to be common with Cerrazette, but have had a light period, so needn't have worried about that either!

Think I would have panicked too with Cerazette but then I was on Mycrogynon when it was announced as the worst pill ever and I found it ok. Picking it up tomorrow so will see how it goes.

What's wrong with Femulen - I had that last December (but not currently taking it)?

Was told it has been discontinued and replaced with cheaper pills.

I am trying a mini-pill with levonorgestrel in it to see if I would be ok with mirena as it is the same progestogen - at least I can stop taking it if I don't like it!

I have tried cerazette (gestodene) which was a bit OTT for my liking, so would like something with less hormone in it.

Femulen was no better than the cerazette for me, even though I have used it in the past. I am losing heart.
