mumps?!

I have been feeling lousy since the end of last week, extremely tired, and had a fever on Sunday. Yesterdaymy whole neck got stiff and it hurts to put my head towards my chest. my glands feel swollen but the swelling isn't particularly obvious visually.

Does this sound like mumps? it is the only thing I can think of.

I had mumps at 16 - a long time ago- but remember it.
One lump behind one ear, at top of side neck below skull bone.
Jaw hurting when opening mouth wide to eat or yawn. GP said mumps is typically behind one ear only. Is infectious and can cause infertility in men. None of my family at home caught it from me though.

I don't think your symptoms are mumps.

I woke up this morning with a swollen gland about 2" down from ear lobe under jaw bone at top of neck. Typical throat infection/virus. Also blowing my nose too much , chesty cough and feeling really tired and weak. No raised temperature, so just a cold really.
Taking it easy, as much as is possible, eating loads and tlc is the treatment. See GP if it gets a lot worse.

The important thing is that your temperature goes down quickly. It sounds like the flu.
