hoping for some advice my FIL has had a cough for 2 months with severe head pain whilst coughing, fatigue and blurred vision, he is unhappy about going to gp but we are very worried.

Please insist that he goes to his GP. The head pain and fatigue could be to do with the cough itself: is the cough powerful? Does he cough at night?

Is the cough productive? I.e. is he coughing anything up?

The blurred vision could be a separate issue, but who knows? Best get him to talk his symptoms over with his GP; possibly have some sputum sample(s) taken and possibly a chest x-ray.

Good luck.

If a cough lasts for longer than 3 weeks, it should be checked out medically.

He needs to go to his GP asap, if he hesitates someone should attend the surgery with him to make sure he sees the doctor.

He needs to go to the GP. Have stern words

My mum's persistent cough was a symptom of (non smoking related) lung cancer. If so, the sooner he goes to get treatment, the longer he has to live.

Thanks for your responses, I have had stern words and with the of MIL & DH we managed to get him to see a GP today. They are running lots of tests, ecg, chest xray, bloods and full medical. Fingers crossed for good news, they are doing all tests tomorrow.
