Flap of skin over tooth

Is there a name for this? I'm trying to find a bit more information about it, as my dd has a back tooth coming through at the moment and today she discovered there is a flap of skin lying down the middle of it. It really upset her and I'm not sure if I need to do anything about it or whether it will sort itself out.

That's fairly normal for back teeth isn't it? As the tooth comes up higher and as she uses it to chew it should break off naturally I think.

Thanks snorkle. I had forgotten I'd posted this.

If it's ok to leave it, i'll just wait and see what happens.

I still have a slightly annoying 'flap' on one of my back teeth....and suspect am significantly older than your DD! Reassure her that it will probably dissappear on it's own and that if it doesn't she can still go on to lead a (relatively) normal life!! Grin
