Ive had a very bad cold the past wk and then last nite my ear popped and I had really bad pain. I managed to get to hospital early this morning but now it is leaking yellow discharge should I be worried?

By the sounds of it, you have perforated your eardrum. Did the pain cease after the 'pop'? My understanding is that the pain is the pressure of the fluid on the eardrum (if that makes sense).

My DD has done this a number of times, and tends to settle after the perforation.

I would go and get it checked out.

Had this last year.

'Tis a perforated ear drum. You need antibiotics (I had oral and drops) Took 8 weeks to hear properly Shock

Was horrible - hope you are not in too much pain.Flowers

YY to perforated eardrum. Mine did the same thing many years ago and it was one of the worst pains I've ever had. Though as soon as it had popped, the pain eased off. But yes you will need antibiotics I should think. Hope you feel much better soon. I have a rotten memory but I still remember how miserable that was. Flowers

Thanks everyone, got antibiotics and painkillers from hospital.

My ear popped then the pain started, later on that night it started leaking but that's stopped now. Don't have any pain just hear! My ear drum is ok no perforation.

Glad you have some antibiotics/painkillers babyrose. And good that eardrum hasn't perforated. Hope you feel loads better soon.
