....since Thursday. Can't get a GP appt. until Monday. What can I do until then? It hurts, it feels disgusting, can't eat or drink without lots of discomfort and I'm all achey and shivery/sweaty and minging.

Call OOH service in case you need antibiotics.

Walk in centre nearby?

I have DH's penicillin left over from when he had it last year. I know it's a big no-no but....

Or is tonsillitis usually viral? Am doing fluids, gargling with corsodyl and taking ibruprofen

They don't routinely give antibiotics for tonsillitis any more as evidence shows that it usually clears up in 3-4 days with or without them.

mistressploppy · 22/06/2013 19:10

I wondered that, noblegiraffe (glad you're not evil)

Codeine and paracetamol to numb pain and hydrogen peroxide to gargle with.

I guarantee will be gone in 48 hours.

Do not ignore it you may end up in hospital.
