What do I do with the yogurt?

So I started with itchy vagina/labia yesterday. It feels like a 'thrushy' itch which would fit in with the weather.

Normally we have canesten in but I had a clear out of all the out of date medicines and it now appears I forgot to restock. I have got natural yogurt in the fridge though which everyone always suggests.

BUT I don't top really know what to do with it! Do I apply it thinly like a cream and sit on a towel? I don't have tampons so can't go for a dipping and inserting approach. The mooncup I can't see working (and I can only think it would makes things worse anyway).

Please can someone put me out of my misery?

It needs to be live yoghurt, not just natural.

poor you,it's no laughing matter, i smear a good dloop on a san towel and wear it in the usual manner soothes and cools, but needs replacing regulary unless you like the smell of sour milk! have a chat with gp if this is a regular problem though, sometimes meds can have a bad effect,

Live bio yogurt only. Not sweetened stuff!

Eat some in case the thrush originates in your gut, and for um, undercarriage application, just put lots on a few times a day and wear a sanitary towel.

Make sure you're using plain unsweetened pro-biotic yoghurt.

The most effective means I've found of using yoghurt is to freeze it in ice-cube trays - you get a little discomfort when first inserting due to the cold, however it's the best means of actually getting the yoghurt up into your vagina (the pro-biotics survive when frozen). As it melts it gets messy, but then yoghurt in the vagina or vulva is going to be messy however you do it! Just be sure to use old underwear and ideally cloth pads - don't use commercial pads like Always or Kotex as these will make the infection worse, if you don't have cloth pads use a washcloth or something similar folded into your underwear to deal with the mess.

Otherwise slather the yoghurt onto your vulva and as far as you can into your vagina, then pop on some old underwear and cloth pads/washcloth. The frozen yoghurt is a little messier long-term, but short-term trying to slather the stuff onto your vulva is really tricky!!

Ideally leave overnight, just remember to shower in the morning!

As a note tampons should NEVER be used with a vaginal infection or when not menstruating so forget any advice to use tampons for this purpose, a menstrual cup wouldn't work - but as a note menstrual cups wouldn't make the problem worse at all as they don't harbour harmful flora or effect vaginal cleaning like tampons do. If you have a diaphragm of softcups using them would work to apply and prevent mess.
