HELP!! Quinoderm cream

Jux · 18/06/2013 17:18

Seems to be out of stock in Britain! DD had to switch to this because her prescribed acne cream ceased to exist in this country, and now it seems this has too.

Our gp is not great at this particular problem, nor is the surgery.

Can anyone tell me an alternative which is available in UK and suitable for a 13 year old.

You can really tell when she's run out of cream as the acne comes up a treat the next day. She get teased and becomes v self-conscious and I am anxious to prevent her going down that road again, as she's been feeling good about herself for months now.

Please help!

My 14yr old, has been getting very good results (touch wood), with an antibiotic called Lymecycline, together with a very expensive cream which is quite new called Epiduo.

She has Been using this combination for about two weeks and already stating to see an effect.

Before that she was on Duac which she did not find overly effective.

Quinoderm has been going for years though. I remember using is about 30 years ago! Not very effective for me I'm afraid.

The only thing that worked for me was going on the contraceptive pill, am hoping not to have to go down that route with dd.

Hope you sort something out.

IvanaCake · 18/06/2013 20:50

I bought quinoderm from amazon last week.

Fairylea · 18/06/2013 20:52

Duac was amazing for me (on prescription).

Onesleeptillwembley · 18/06/2013 20:56

I got the youngest some at weekend from the pharmacy in Asda.

pippitysqueakity · 18/06/2013 20:58

I just binned some quinoderm bought from Boots in the Summer (last year) because every time I used it I got more allergic.
(Swollen eyes, itchy neck, etc)
You do need to ask at the pharmacy bit tho.

Jux · 18/06/2013 20:59

Tried to get Quinoderm from Amazon this afternoon, Ivana. Not available. Nor from Boots, nor any of the other sites I tried.

I shall ask the chemist about Duac, Lymecycline and Epiduo tomorrow. Thank you all so much.

(And if you do find Quinoderm on Amazon can you let me know?!)

I'll be in Asda tomorrow. I'll check and get some if they have it.

Elibean · 18/06/2013 21:02

I remember Quinoderm from about 40 years ago! It was brilliant even then.

If I see any, I'll a) let you know where and b) stock up.

Onesleeptillwembley · 18/06/2013 21:03

Just checked - there's a fair bit on EBay.

Jux · 18/06/2013 21:25

Thank you. Quinoderm 5 is on ebay (everything else seems to be face wash) . Do you know what Quinoderm 5 is and what the difference is to the stuff dd has been using?

Onesleep, sadly we don't have an Asda anywhere near. Do they deliver (or would that be a ridiculous thing to do)? Grin

If they have it I could post it.

Jux · 18/06/2013 21:47

Would you really? That would be so kind. I very gratefully accept! If you give me bank details I can refund you immediately, but I'd happily send you a cheque if you prefer. Asda don't seem to have it on their site right now. I've gone through about 1000 skin care products just now (it felt like 1000, anyway! 15 pages.)

I'm not sure the ebay stuff is the right stuff.

Sorry Jux, just rung to check as I would have popped up tonight before 11 - they have none, they said there's a problem getting hold of it. Guess I was lucky. Sad

Jux · 18/06/2013 22:35

Ah, thanks for trying Smile I think you were lucky, last week. It's turned into a case of get it if you can, and then get shitloads Grin

I'll be talking earnestly to my chemist tomorrow, about all the things mentioned upthread.

I got quinoderm 5 which is only 5%, where the old stuff was 10%. Best I can do for the moment. Will see how it goes, and maybe talk to gp about FriedSprouts suggestions and Duac.
