Syndol. Alternatives?

Hi,

I get a lot of back, neck and shoulder pain and related sick headaches.

On here a few years back I saw people who used syndol and swore by it. But they also said it had been discontinued. Had a google for it the other day and found it is available but it's outrageously expensive - 59.99 for 100 tabs or something like that. On Amazon they were selling something containing some of the active ingredients which reviews suggested did the same thing as syndol when taken with ibuprofen. Any advice?

My back is giving me major gyp at the moment and I've had a series of hideous headaches as a result. Tens machine eases back a bit but doesn't help with headaches

thanks

Syndol are back in boots but they don't contain Doxylamine which was the ingredient that eased migraine Hmm

Have any of your tried one of the triptan drugs for migraine - sumatriptan (brand name Imigram) but there are quite a few in the triptan family. They aren't pain killers but they reduce the swelling that occurs in the blood vessels around the brain that causes the pain in migraine. GPs might not tell you about them (I didn't find out about them for years) because they are expensive, but they changed my life - I could be pain free in a couple of hours.

You can buy Imigran without prescription at the chemist but they are expensive (about £7.50 for 2 tabs) but if you want to try them you might need to be insistent with the GP. Mine told me for years there was nothing I could try other than paracetomol and when I found out about the triptans he just prescribed them without comment!!

Don't be fooled into thinking Syndol are back.....I bought a pack yesterday and checked the ingredients. They contain paracetamol, codeine and caffeine but NOT doxylamine which was the sedative ingredient which made Syndol so good for migraine.
They are now exactly the same as many other available over the counter medicines. After waiting so long for their return, I was very disappointed.

But I took two tablets and it works for me though. Apparently doxylamine is antihistamine for congestion and nose block. You should try it first before you get too disappointed. I definitely feel much better now.

I just got all excited when I found the original Syndol on the chemistdirect website. However, I couldn't see how they could be the only people in the country to have a supply, so I phoned them: sure enough, what they've got in stock is the new version without doxylamine. They told me they will get their website changed, as the picture and description show the original formula.
