Hi all, sounds like a silly question but am so tired for past few weeks.I gladly have my atopic eczema/ allergies almost under control but it has been a tough year between taking steroids, antibiotics, antiviral, allergy tablets.Currently I am taking a few antihistamines as prescribed by my specialist .Great things are under control but I am just exhausted and I am wondering could these tablets have a bearing. They are not the drowsy type !! maybe I need a good tonic as the past few months my flare ups were bad.thank you x

Which ones ? I used to take Loratidene (generic Clarityn), my GP advised to take Cetirizene as the other one wasnt working and it wiped me out like a zombie.

I also occasionally (usually in winter) take the generic Piriton for my eczema..I only take it at night as it too is drowsy causing.

I find all anti-histamines very sedating (especially Cetirizine, which I have a strange reaction to)

Apparently ALL anti-histamines (old style and modern 'non-sedating' ones) are sedating to some degree. The modern ones are supposed to be less noticeably so.

There are 3 OTC and 1 prescription 'non-sedating' anti-histamines, so it is worth trying them all. Also, try taking them early evening so the bulk of their sedating effect hits over night.

I'm all right with most antihistimines unless I actually stop! If I have to sit down for more than about 5 minutes I start to feel exhausted, but if I keep moving I'm fine Hmm.

When I worked, I fell asleep at my desk one day having taken piriton!!
