have op or cancel it (really scared)

Booked in to have hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy on thursday (was meant to be d+c but had awful period-first in 2+yrs this wk).

Really not sure if I want to have it and am v v tempted to cancel. Smear and colposcopy were normal, us scan showed a lot of fluid in uterus and they were not sure about polyps/growths hence the hysteroscopy.I have been reading up about fluid and wonder if I have hydrosalpinx after tubal ligation last year at time of cs.

I have been getting a lot of pain so something isn't 'right' but I'm not sure I want an op, I have 4 dcs with health problems, youngest still bf so dh will have a hard day with him and also dh has so much to do at work that 2 days off will be a problem for him.

I'm worried about a GA and don't know whether to just postpone?

Don't postpone! Whenever you have it you will be anxious and you are so close now, you dont want to have to go through all that worry again do you?

I don't know about your condition but I had to have a GA last week and was terrified. Yes it was scary but not as bad as I feared and if I have to have another one I won't be as worried
Dont put it off if you need it you can do it

Have had this operation and it was really straighforward, felt fine afterwards. SOunds as though putting it off wouldn't really help you. Best to get it over with?

Don't cancel, all you will be doing is delaying the inevitable.

I know it's scary and worrying but you'd be foolish to postpone.

The GA will be fine, you'll be monitored closely and asked loads of questions beforehand, please don't panic.

2 days off will not be a problem for him compared to the mother of his children having an undiagnosed health problem and being in pain. This is one of those times when you have to put you first - this problem requires further investigation and potentially prevent a longer hospital stay later.

Have you discussed concerns about GA with the hospital? Are you anxious about the procedure in general? The hospital will understand these concerns.

Keep going - your health is vital to your family, as you can tell from the upheavals caused by needing to take a a day or two out from it.

I'm just so nervous. It sounds as if the procedure is quick but I'm terrified about the GA. I keep worrying that I just won't wake up and I've been so tearful.

I want to cancel and forget it but I know I can't.

I am convinced it will all go wrong. I've had ops before and 4 cs but I feel worse this time than ever before

You're frightened of the unknown and what they might find, I was just like this when I had my Hysterectomy.

Please don't cancel, talk to the Anaesthetist and tell them your worries.

Looks like I have no option but to cancel. In the last hout ds2 has woken up screaming with v high temp and vomiting.

I expect whatever bug he has will now make its way round the other 3 dcs. Can't believe what bad luck we have.

I was so, so worried before I had GA in April, and I've been under it a few times.

It was honestly fine. Completely, completely fine. Even the needles weren't scary, and I'm a sobbing wreck at blood tests. I woke up three minutes after surgery had finished, while I was still being wheeled back to the recovery ward, and I was back on my ward with a packet of biscuits and coffee after 10 minutes. I felt fine.

Don't cancel. The worry is so much worse than the actual procedure you wouldn't believe.

I have had 3 GAs for knee and hip ops, and have had no issues at all, other than being slightly sick and tired post op.

I think it is a normal rational fear, certainly it went through my mind, but I wanted to live a normal life and be able to walk / run after my children - which I can now do!

Go for it...the longer you delay the worse the idea will become in your mind, and also the longer you will suffer with the health issues.

I was also worried before a GA recently, I even tried to get out of it hours before but the nurse who checked me in reassured me so much that it would be fine and it was. GA is pretty safe these days she said, tbh I am glad I went ahead and got it all out of the way.

Honestly, don't worry, it will be ok and afterwards you will feel a great sense of relief that your health issues are sorted.

GA's are fine. You get a mild sedative once the canula is in, which TBH is a waste of time and then comes the GA - slight sting and within a split second you are away with the fairys. Next thing you know is a nurse is waking you and you've had a really nice dream !

Got another soon, but not looking forward to the recovery after.
