I get a headache that is bad ,but not q uite on the migraine symptom list.

It is always my left temple and left eye that hurt..I feel sick and basicly ..yuk and need a tablet and try and sleep if off or at least lie down .

I don't get flashing lights or double vision but I do need to close my eyes and curl up in a ball

The pain will ease after a day but my temple where I had it is still sore to touch for a few days after Confused

It is not new ...it has always been "my bad headache" iykwim....but I was just wondering if I should be taking migraine tablets for it instead of normal really strong ones when I can tablets ?

Thanks

Yes, definitely. I get migraines like yours. Not all migraines have to be accompanied by flashing lights, etc. If I take a prescription migraine tablet, it clears within 30 minutes and I'm as good as new. If not, it can last between 1-3 days, varying between moderate to severe, constant, pain. A migraine tablet won't cure a headache and vice versa.

Thanks Giraffs....wow to have it cleared so quick would be fab .

Can you only get the tablets on prescription now ...I do remember selling (Sat girl in chemist) migralieve ?sp

If not I am going to have to break my personal best ....4 years and not see a doctor !!!!

I suppose that is why mine last so long ....the tablets I am taking are doing nothing !!!

I get strange headaches that the gp said are migraines. I get a tingly, almost like pins and needles feeling in my face and feel off colour, vaguely nauseous. Last time it lingered for almost a week. I've never taken a migraine tablet, so will be interested to see what people advise to take.

Yes indeed! The reason I went so long undiagnosed with my migraines was because so many people said that my headaches could not be migraines as I would be 'knocked out' in bed for a day. When I finally saw a neurologist he was sad that I had left it so long and confirmed that there are a great many migraine variants and said it was a very misunderstood condition. I had many variants but mainly silent migraines with no pain but vision issues, nausea and dizziness.

Yes I've had the ones with no pain but dizziness and visual disturbances as well.

Yes they are only available on prescription. I used to take Maxalt wafers, now that I'm breastfeeding, I use Imitrex. Both are excellent but I find the Maxalt takes effect a bit faster. Definitely worth breaking your doctor hiatus :-)

Sorry - forgot to add that maxalt didn't work for me a low dose of amitryptiline helped a lot as a preventive.

Yes I get 'full' ones but also ones with only headache & nausea and ones with only visual disturbances and/or numbness in face & hands.
