Cat allergy or something else?

Yesterday evening my legs started itching and by the time I went to bed everywhere from my knees to my waist plus my hands, wrists and elbow, were covered with large, bright pink, raised welts.
I slathered on some anthisan, which enabled me to fall asleep. But I woke up at 3am with horrifically itchy hands (I'd been scratching in my sleep and it was getting sore) and big welts on my bum and lower back. I hunted around and found some Piriton syrup and eventually managed to fall asleep.

Woke up this morning and there is no sign of anything, no welts, no itching, no pink marks, nothing.

The only different thing in my routine was visiting a house with a cat (which I didn't actually see or touch). Could this be a cat allergy? It's not a problem I've had before. Why weren't my lower legs or feet affected? Or is the cat a red herring (I've half convinced myself that the itching may have started before I went visiting), could it be related to my Lupus?

It could be a cat allergy. The fur can be on furniture or places that you can't see. Did you have any sneezing? An anti his timing usually fixes it so maybe that's why the welts had gone down.

Thanks tabbycat - I didn't have any sneezing, I was there about an hour and the itching really started about an hour after I got home.

I need to visit again so I may take some Piriton as soon as I get home to try and avoid the itching.

Definitely sounds like an allergy of some sort. The best test will be to visit again and see if it happens then.
