Sore throat for 6 days

Feeling really bad with a sore throat now for nearly a week. Very tender glands in neck. Tired. No fever but on 4 hrly neurofen or paracetamol. Have had tonsils out and have had glandular fever 10 yrs ago. 10 yr old daughter has same thing about 2 days behind me. Am assuming its " just a virus" but am off work and feeling cr*p

Have just had (still have) something like this. Its been a bit of a bugger and has gone something like this:

Started about 3 weeks ago. Very very sore throat - almost like it had dried out/cut glass feeling. Glands up and feeling yuk. Actually the day before it started I slept for 15 hours - unheard of for me.

After about a week cattargh started. Then a kind of a head cold but not full blown. Intermittent ear ache - not bad but coming a going. All the time glands up and throat still sore but more of an ache than before. Drained pathtic feeling.

Roll on another week. Cough started. intemittent deafness. Glands up and achey throat and still feeling tired.

Roll on another week. Am feeling human again. Glands now up and down. Throat kind of aches from time to time but not always. Still feel a bit wishy washy but better than before.

Am hoping this is the end of it. However, have decided I will be off to GP if I still feel shite next week as I am now wondering if there is infection in my ears.

Hello - another one here! Just like you Soggy - felt really tired all day last Sunday. Had spells of freezing then v hot. Then the sore throat started - big time. Have laryngitis and ear pain too.

I'm now 4 days in and the throat has eased a bit but now have head cold/cataahr/sinus congestion. Lymph glands up, one on back of my neck is hard and round like a marble!

I've struggled on at work until mid afternoon yesterday and am in bed today. I've got a lot on at work but really need to rest today. Hope it does not last as long as Soggy's.

Us too, awful virus and hacking cough which won't shift, me dh and ds2 all the same.
