Postpartum night sweats 7 months on?!

Has anyone else had this? Ever since having my 2nd baby, I've suffered terrible night sweats which leave me drenched and having to change the sheets. It seems a long time to have them. I thought it might be the pill (microgynon) but the doc said she'd never heard of that happening and I should wait and see if it settles down. If I get a cold or something (quite frequent with two children!) it gets worse and is every night. Usually it's maybe once a week. Anyone else had this? Or am I a sweating freak?!!!

Night sweats to the extent that you're having them aren't normal and need investigating. It might be something easily treated but its also indicative of a few nasty things so it needs investigating without delay.

Maybe have your Thyroid checked, I think night sweats can be an indication of an overactive thyroid or sometimes TB.

No help at all but I had them after having dd until she was about 8 or 9 months and then they totally disappeared.

I too went to a gp who told me she had never heard of it before and did a blood test but all it showed was that my iron levels were low. They were tested again recently and are still low so it wasn't that.

I had night sweats for up to a year after all five kids.
I was breast feeding and I found this prolonged the sweating.
The doctor said it was just hormonal fluctations.

I had blood tests but all normal.

I had them after DC2 for several months. GP said it was a normal side effect of childbirth. I was BFing, don't know whether that makes a difference.

I had exactly the same with both children until I stopped bf - about 9 months. I sympathise.

This is an old thread but relevant to me. I have an 8 month old and have had night sweats continuously for the last 2 weeks. They happened the odd time before that (not frequent enough to bother me). Now I have been ill this week but really, it's too much! It could be peri menopause as I'm mid forties(so old to have a baby, another story there) but also I heard breastfeeding can cause them too. Any one else found any supplements suitable for breastfeeding that helped?
