is this normal??

Feel a bit silly asking this as at my age, 42, I should know my body better!

For a while my periods have started changing. Closer together even heavier than normal. But I have now started getting a blood stained discharge after my period ends. Just thought it was old blood clearing out. But today 7 days after my period started I had lots of discharge that was brown blood stained.

I have also on and off had a strange feeling like something is swollen down below. I say down below as I cant be sure which bit it is! I think sometimes is a my bladder and a uti and other times is it thrush?

I have had a scan last year and have fibriods.
Anyway have started scaring myself I have some type of gynecological cancer. Today its cervical cancer.

Has anyone experienced this symptoms or are they totally normal and I am over thinking things?

Possibly perimenopause?

I have had a swollen feeling inside at times too and worried it was a prolapse - nurse had a quick look, couldn't see swelling but did say I had thrush. But really you need to go and get checked out to put your mind at rest.

Mid-cycle bleeding always needs to be checked out.

But a far more common cause than cancer is cervical polyps (painless to remove). Go for a smear - if there are polyps they'll see them whilst doing the test.

I did think it was menopausal.
I have had a vaginal exam as I also thought I had some type of prolapse. But apparently not. Swab showed strep b. This was last year.

Also saw a gynecologist about a different problem, just a check after a traumatic birth who thought I had an ectropian. She asked if my smear was upto date and it was. But now I have read that there are lots of things still missed with a smear test.

I tried to book s smear but its not due until October so wont do it until then. I suppose I should go back but just wondered if anyone else got the discharge a few days after the heavy type bleeding stopped.

Not sure if its mid cycle. Does that mean ovulation time?
This is more a couple of days after the heavy bleeding has stopped. My period started last Tuesday.
Have 2 days really heavy then just light for a couple of days then nothing for a few days then this discharge.

Get thee to a gynaecologist! And perhaps ask for a full screen High Vaginal swab at your gp surgery while you're waiting. Hope you get it sorted x
