boob pain - really worried

Hi. NC for this. I am 44 and have big boobs ( I am overweight). Not much clue about boob checking for lumps; I would give the excuse they are too big to know what to do with but that is lame I know I normally get tender boobs depending on cycle but used to that. For about a week I have had much more decisive and sharp pain deep in one boob. It does not seem to be movement related and seems to happen even when I sit still. It is not constant. I am worried sick. Have booked for private mammogram and appointment as so worried but cant be seen for 2 weeks. 3 people I know have all been diagnosed with "C" in last month. Can someone please tell me I am probably worrying for nothing? I feel sick.

You are probably worrying for nothing. There Smile

Sadly, that won't stop you worrying, will it?! I've been seen many times (started around same age as you) with boob pain, and nothing bad has ever come of it. It's very common starting in perimenopause, a bit like in puberty really - and there are also more benign cyst type things around in our 40s that can kick off and be annoying, but not harmful.

So the odds are hugely in your favour of nothing nasty.

At the same time, in the very unusual event of pain leading to diagnosis of cancer (it's rare, but does happen) you are doing all the right things to get seen, get sorted, and get well asap. It's a very treatable disease for the vast majority of people.

Meantime, IME the only thing to do is to keep posting when you need to, keep busy, and stay away from Dr Google!

Wishing you all the best, let us know how you get on xx
