Need tips for how on get through the day with two under 2! No family nearby and don't want to risk passing the lurgy onto friends.

put a video or the TV on for them or get dh to take a day off work if you are really poorly

In the same bot pennies, feeling realy ill this morning, soar throat etc..
Ive got dd1 (2) and dd2 (10 weeks) to look after, dd1 is being a pian in the a*s and dd2 is grumpy after her jabs yestaday, i just want to curl up and go to sleep!

I just soldier on, not because I want to but because there isn't anyone else to help if Dh is work.

and TBH Dh isn't much good anyway. I had 2 wisdom teeth out a while ago. Got back from the hospital nad was in tears with the pain, really really bad pain, worse than I ever imagined.
Dh still went to work while I was sobbing at the front door with 3 DS's staring at me with panic in their eyes.

It was awful, he didn't offer to stay at home at all and just said "I have to go to work" I told him to just go....
I lost it with him a few weeks later when he had a throat infection and stayed in bed until 4 pm in the afternoon.

DH has been sweet but is of the HAVE to go to work fraternity. But he did have this bug yesterdy and spent the morning in bed so am a little peeved at the injustice.

bring loads of toys into the sitting room and let them make a huge mess while you lie on the settee.

DVD?

Nap?

Good luck - it's pants!

Feel very sorry for you - I am feeling really ill too at the mo, but my 2 are at school thank goodness. They are a bit older too, so they can look after themselve,s but they still keep coming up and saying "muuum . . ." Drives me nuts.

We had a disaster once when my 2 were babies and both me and my dh had a sickness and diarrhoea bug, my little 'un was only about 3 months old and the other one was 3. It was a nightmare.

Why not be a really bad mummy and plonk them in front of the telly. You can then curl up on the sofa with a quilt over you and die quietly in the corner. Alternatively bring lots of toys into the bedroom and they can play whilst you lie in bed.

Hope you feel better soon.

You just have to get on with it - plod on and just don't worry about nutrition or educational activities! Take the path of least resistance in everything!

pegasus · 25/05/2006 10:54

Whatever you have to!

Generally toys, telly and food for them and a nice place to curl up nearby for you!

acnebride · 25/05/2006 11:10

It's dreadful. Telly, and ring any mates/acquaintances to ask them if they've had the lurgy. at least they can bring you a new video, different toys, ice creams or something?

Gloworm · 25/05/2006 11:13

I dont suppose you have a sofa bed in your sitting room? I find ours a godsend if i'm unwell

ComeOVeneer · 25/05/2006 11:17

You have my sympathies. I too have been struck with the lurgy curtesy of ds or dd they are now both fine and I'm the one suffering. The only good part of the day is when ds has his nap and dd is at nursery, so I get a couple of hours in the afternoon to curl up and die. Can't call on dh for help (he was at the office until 1am and will be the same today).

Hopefully I will be more human tomorrow as dh is taking me to Paris for 3 days (wedding anniversary) and MIL is having the kids Grin .

Frined kindly helped out thie morning with DD1. DD2 being quiet as a mouse bless her. Rang DH to ask him to come home. He refused because he has so much work to do because he took time off to be ill yesterday and because he has a day off tomorrow to have lunch with the boys. I told him he owes me big time. got them both in bed now - am off the get some sleep myself.
