Foot and mouth disease??

My toddler has what look like a mouth ulcer which is obviously causing him pain,also some pustules (which are not pussy however)on his feet and in his groin.They don't look the same as the things dd had when she had chicken pox.

He's pretty jolly,but cries when he eats and is waking crying in the night-something he never does.

I'm not the kind to go to the GP very often,just wondered if anyone had any ideas???

How old were you hc?
So mouth ulcers are a big part of it?
Is there any treatment or is it a case of ride it out.
He squeals with pain when he eats and has dribbled so much (something he never has done before) that he has a red raw chin.

I was in my twenties. Caught it from my nephew. I didn't get any treatment myself, but I am averse to the doctor personally...
you can use Anbesol for the mouth ulcers (liquid or gel). Bonjela is shit, imo. Ask the pharmacist what you can use at his age.

I'll follow your treatment recommendation to HC.The Bonjela doesn't seem to help.

Its a bugger and very contagious, I think. My DCs both had it and were put in sodding quarantine last half term. It rained, no one could come round and visit, the goldfish both died, our nanny handed her notice in - we were all as miserable as sin. (The latter two things were, I think, unconnected with the Hand, Foot and Mouth)

Think the worst bit is the mouth ulcers - they other blister-y things they didn't seem to be too concerned about. We did anbesol and industrial amounts of Baby Nurofen. I drank a lot, I seem to remember.

DS had this the week before his first birthday and it was awful The mouth ulcers were horrid and he really struggled to eat, lived on chunks of cheese and ham, even refused yoghurts. I think the solid food was easier for him to deal with than liquidy stuff. I gave calpol and neurofen during the day and Medised at night which helped him get a bit of sleep. Was all over in a week but it was a very long week!

Think they were in quarantine for about 4 days. God, it was AWFUL.
