i changed by dd's (19 months) nappy at the weekend and i honestly thought she had sat in a pile of sugar. her nappy was full of what looked like large granulated sugar crystals. anyone know reason. i did give her honey on toast the day before, but am i being daft to make a connection? it looked pretty weird and i was a bit alarmed

This is exactly why I switched to cloth.

Everyone seemed to think I was insane "it must be safe if they put it in the nappies", but I could never settle with the idea of something I didn't understand properly (and that the ingredients of weren't readily available) being that close to my girly's bits.

I still get baffled looks when I say that environmental issues didn't come into my choice!

Same when I switched to sea sponges and moon cup - the few people who knew assumed it was for the landfills, not for my body.

The stuff in nappies is the same chemicals that were banned from feminine hygeine products because of TSS...

If consumed it can cause serious damage..

I was using disposables on occasion when one burst - I was horrified. I had no idea what the chemicals included and suddenly realised I'd never take such chances with my own lady-bits.. I have read some horror stories about the gel which I won't share.

I don't want to seem like a nappy nazi, but it's always worth considering switching to cloth.. There are many many benefits

:)
