CIN3 after colposcopy...what is it?

Had my colposcopy results back today, at the time when they took the biopsy they said that they didn't think it would show any changes (wasn't even CIN1)

They also want me to go in and have an operation under a general anaesthetic "after discussion with the consultant" rather than a local. Why??? There's no leaflet with the letter explaining what the result means, or anything...any experience with this anyone else?

Please and Thankyou! X

yes i had this and the op to remove the cells. CIN3 is the highest grade before cancer, so they need to be removed. I had a lletz procedure but some people need a cone biopsy. very much depends on the location of the cells.

more info available here The op is quick, just a day job and it healed pretty quickly. No sex or tampons for a month or so and i've not had any problems since.

Good luck.

Mine was CIS and I had the cone biopsy nearly 30 years ago, under GA as was the usual procedure in those days. All smears since then been fine.
