Question for dentists- declaring medications.

Popping this here rather than the Meno forum....

I am about to change dentists and anticipate a new patient questionnaire. Would you say 'yes' to a question on medication if you were taking HRT? ( not orally- transdermal.)

In some ways I don't think it's any of their business as it's not an 'illness' but I wondered about the dental implications- I'd assume my jaw bones and gums might be in better condition than older women not on HRT.

I think you should declare it, just in case.

My dentist once mentioned that a particular mouthwash wasn't recommended for use if you were pregnant. So a few months later we ended up having a conversation like this:-

Me: Oh, I thought I'd better tell you, I'm trying to get pregnant now.
Dentist: Congratulations.
Me: Well, it hasn't happened yet, but hopefully soon.

He looked at me like I was bonkers, and had just inappropriately told him stuff about my sex life. Which in a way, I suppose I had. But I was thinking that over the next few visits it would be quite possible for me to be pregnant but not know it yet. And as it turns out, I was, just, pregnant on that occasion. Still, slightly embarrassing.

It's about discussing something which may or may not have any bearing on treatment.

But now that you mention trust, the admin staff tend to hand out and take back the questionnaires, and before they file them are quite able to have a good look!

I was surprised that my dentist's book didn't mention that AB Erythromycin should not be taken with Statins. She told me as it was not in her book I was wrong. But it was written on the leaflet with my Statins and GP knew about it too .
Dentist thought I was being awkward when I refused to take the Erythromycin, until on my next visit I showed her the Statin leaflet.
