Black dot on finger

This is such a minor thing but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had it or knows what it might be. A little black dot about 2mm across has appeared on my right first finger (on the fingerprint side). It looks like a pen mark but isn't and has been there for about three weeks without any change. It doesn't hurt, isn't raised and is quite regular in shape. Does anyone have any idea.what it might be and whether it will go away again? Thank you

I'm sure you've googled by now to see that melanomas generally are raised and irregular.

I'd still have it checked out, though. I've had skin cancer, and the specialist REALLY goes to town on examining digits and toes (and between them) for recurrent cancers.

Do not ignore this; it's likely to be nothing, but better safe...Smile

It sounds like a blood blister, although three weeks is a long time for one of those to hang around. Best get it checked out.

I've had this a few times over the years. It was a blood blister and went away in time.

But what echt says re: getting it checked if you're unsure.

Could be a wart. They don't tend to go away without help and some of them do spread. You're best off having a chat with the pharmacist, they will tell you to go and see your GP if they are not sure.

Thank you everyone, I'll show a pharmacist in the first instance as gp appointments are like hen's teeth round here and I don't want to waste the doctor's time.
