Persistent sore throat - what might it be?

I've had a sore throat for a couple of weeks now. At first I thought I was just coming down with a cold, but no cold has come.

Hypochondriac that I am, I'm now starting to worry. Should I?

Allergies?

Tis the season, and they can start up at any point in your life (mine started in my 40s). I get a mild, chronic sore throat at this time of year. Starting a couple of weeks ago, in fact.

Interesting thought. Is there any way I can 'test'? I was thinking about taking a hayfever remedy to see if it helps.

Go ahead and try different antihistamines! Your GP should be able to help. Mine diagnosed postnasal drip Hmm after it went on for weeks...
