here goes!
Last year i had a m/c. Ever since my period has started a few days early with yukky almost black blood then started properly on proper day!
I thought it was left over blood from last month, if poss and thought i would at some point go to gp as maybe there was a 'blockage' or something stopping all blood coming away!
This sounds so silly written down!!!
This month, my day to start came and all I have had is the 'black' blood and a tiny bleed.
What do you think?

Don't know anything about this so I'm no help I'm afraid. I hope someone comes along soon with some advice.

I would go to my GP if I were you just to put your mind at rest.

It's funny you should say that AM , not the same situation as you but this has been happening to me ever since my periods returned after giving birth. I too have almost black sticky blood the day before I come on properly almost like tar it's weird, will wait for answers with you.

the same for me too - ever since my periods came back after having dd3 last year. I get some blood on day 25 and then period starts proper on day 28. I have been to the doctors, and he says it is probably hormones, but to have a smear to be safe.

I've got a smear booked for next Friday so will ask then. I think in my case it's probably my body still clearing itself out after pregnancy my ds is only 6 months old.

I was wondering if that was the case, maybe a little 'debris' left behind from m/c!!
Would that show up at a smear and exam?

auntymandy - I get this oo. i get what I call a pre-warning a day or so before my due date. Very dark, not red blood like it should be.

I believe that I might have a tilted uterus so a little bit of blood gets trapped so this is old blood which is why it is dark coloured.

If you are worried get it checked out. I did mention this and the fact I get lots of little clots too when I went for my coil check up. They weren't concerned, so I felt it wasn't worth worrying about either!

I get this too. Started after baby no 3. (I have never m/c) Get it for about 3 days then it stops completely for a day and then AF starts properly. Happens every single month. No 3 is now 13 months old. So if anyone has any answers I would be very interested to know why it happens.

i get it exactly like poppiesinaline describes. have had for years. mentioned it to the doc once but she didn't seem interested.
